Progressive vs Interlaced Project Setting Confusion
Hi All,
Been searching through the forums and have seen lots of info on this topic but am still slightly confused.
We’re shooting 60i.
And my projects include video along with images and graphical PNG slides with text on them… And we often zoom in on these slides with the pan crop tool.
Since my project in intended to be viewed only on a computer, should my VEGAS PROJECT PROPERTIES be set to:
Field Order: None (progressive)
or
Field Order: (Upper field first)I have De-interlace method set to Blend fields — it’s slow moving footage.
I know that when I render out my footage, I need to set things to Progressive but what about the PROJECT PROPERTIES tab? Does it matter? I did an A/B test with the VEGAS PROJECT SETTINGS set to field order progressive vs field order upper field and couldn’t tell the difference between the rendered footage.

That’s because there should be no difference. Vegas will render the progressive images as progressive even if the project is interlaced. You can set your project either way since you have mixed footage. I would just keep it 60i so that your video plays back smoothly.
