Okay… so if I put a clip shot on DV in the preview panel, it looks fine. When I drop it into the timeline panel, it looks horribly interlaced. BUT, it still looks fine on my external TV monitor. The final output is fine, I’m just wondering why it looks bad on the program panel…

Also, if I right click the clip in the timeline, and go to field options, and say “Always deinterlace”, it fixes it on the program panel. But it’s weird… I don’t need to do that for the final output…

Anyone know what’s up with that? I’m using Premeire Pro 2.0…

    Thanks,
    Ben Tubb

When editing movies for a TV audience, forget about Premiere’s program window…use your TV. What you see in the program window is normal when viewing fields on a progressive scan monitor.

When it’s on the timeline you are then looking at the sequence monitor, so you want to be sure that the quality setting is set appropriately, such as “Highest” to look the best. The quality can be set differently for the sequence and clip monitors.
