Hey, I just got procoder 2 and I am putting in several DV files to encode. However, when it lists some the files parameters in the right hand area, it says that they are 16X9 and 856X480. But in the middle window where it lists the clip it says 720X480. I can change the 16X9 in the right window to 4:3, but I can’t change the 856X480.

Any ideas here? Will leaving these settings mess up my encoding?

    thx!

    That shouldn’t be happening?

Are you running with the new Service Pack?

Hey Ben. Thanks for the response. I had not updated Procoder. However, I went ahead and did update after I got your post. It didn’t fix the problem though. I opened up my saved project and the settings were the same. Then I tried to start a new proj. and import a vid. and it did the same thing. Here is a pic of what the screen looks like:

https://www.visualrealityonline.com/screen.jpg (You will prob. need to enlarge it in the browser to see correctly.) As you can see it will say 720X480 in the source list, but 856X480 in the Source Parameters. (as well as 16X9)

    Thanks for any help!

Did you captured/edited as Anamorphic video ? Seems to be. If you tell ProCoder your video is 16/9 (as it is by default), the encoded file will fill the 16/9 monitor but will look squeezed on a 4/3 monitor (or letterboxed if you choose so). If you choose 4/3, the encoded file will be letterboxed, or maybe you can choose in the target pan.

720×480 is the DV 3:2 format, 856X480 is the real size of your 16/9 video.

No, I have never shot anything in 16:9. Everything has always been 4:3. I Talked to canopus and they said that something in the video is triggering the 16:9 setting, but it should still render correctly.

    thx!
