processors
Posted by Dana L. butler on June 26, 2007 at 11:29 pmI’m building my own computer with Premiere Pro 1.5….soon to upgrade. I’m looking at an intel 2.4 duo core or intel 2.4 quad core. Any advantage in video editing to going to the quad?

applications like AE/Photoshop and MPEG encoding.
You will NOT see any advantage for memory intensive tasks. Also to take advantage of the CPU power be sure to get a Raid controller (hopefully PCIe based) for faster I/O so your CPU can be feed with data.As far as editing is concern in PPro CS, it remain to be seen as advantage will be totally depending upon how Adobe implemented it. I mean just re-compile with extension for new processors or re-wrote the code to make it multi tasking(which I doubt as it requires lot of resources).
However in any case you will be better off then now.
