  Processor Upgrade

  I upgraded my RAM to 16 GB and now I’ve got a little extra money to upgrade my processor.

  I currently have an Athlon-64 X2 @ 2.4 GHz (Dual Core). I was thinking about upgrading to a QuadCore but I read on a couple of sites about an issue with the processor (bug) and the BIOS fix slows things down. And that a really fast Dual Core Athlon is still faster overall than a quad core.

  Since my ultimate goal is AE rendering time, I’m wondering if anyone here has any words of wisdom. My motherboard supports both the X2 and Phenom processors.

  Anyone with a quad-core having issues? Has anyone actually compared the two?
