The Vegas Movie Studio manual says a 2.8 GHz processor is recommended for HDV. Is it possible to edit HD on my two year old computer with a 2.2 GHz processor? How does the processor speed affect what is possible in the actual editing and rendering? Thanks.

If all you’re talking about is editing HDV, then your computer should be OK with it.
The drawback to a slower processor is that it may struggle with displaying the footage (drop the Preview screen to Preview/Auto or even lower if necessary.
    Rendering will also take longer.

If your footage is any flavour of AVCHD, don’t even bother unless you use proxies (different software such as Cineform) to convert it to another format for editing.
Subsequent rendering will still be slow and painful.

RAM will be more important than the processor. If you can get 8GBs RAM on your motherboard, and upgrade to W7 64 Bit, you probably will see decent performance.
