Proc Amp on Decklink SP – In and Out?
Posted by Kai Whittaker on September 26, 2005 at 2:10 pmDoes the Proc Amp on the Decklink control panel affect the input AND the output? Or does it only affect input?
Thank you,
Kai

September 26, 2005 at 2:14 pmThe reason I’m asking is becaused the output level on my Decklink SP is a little low. I’m trying to find a way to boost the ouput from the computer, without having to adjust the footage coming in or having to put a proc amp on my whole sequence.
Thank you!

Proc Amp is only for use with the input during capture. What are you capturing from and to what are you outputting?

September 29, 2005 at 4:27 pmI’m capturing stuff from two decks:
Sony PVW-2800
Sony J-3I’m outputting to either a Digibeta Deck from Sony or to the PVW-2800.
My main problem is whitie, and chroma levels, I’m making progress with the white level by making tiny adjustments to my input proc amp gain. My system is capturing and laying back white and black levels properly. Chroma levels are another story. When I render something in After Effects, then output it in Final Cut Pro, I get illegal chroma levels. I had several tapes refused technical approval at PBS in the States recently and I wondered if there was somethign else I could change about my system to clamp all my chroma at 100.
I could use the NTSC safe plugin in FCP, or use the “Safe Colors” buttons in some of the AE plugins I use. Maybe I’m, missing a step in my workflow…
Do you have any ideas?
