What I’d like is software that will let me do proc-amp adjustment when I’m capturing analog footage. When I say proc amp, I mean real-time, on-the-fly adjustments to luminance, black level, chroma and hue.

I’ve used the Velocity NLE software, which had this feature built-in. I’ve been told by Adobe and Matrox that their products lack this feature. Proc-amp can only be applied as an effect AFTER footage is captured.

Does anyone know of a third-party software that can do capture proc-amp with Premiere Pro? Aside from using a hardware proc amp, are their any software solutions or workarounds to this?

    Thanks,
    Tom Mansell

For what card or converter? You don’t shove analog into a computer, it needs a hardware interface to digitize it either a external converter box or analog input card any software that does what you want is proprietary to that device, that is where the adjustments you seek are made prior to conversion, any adjustment done post digitizing would be the same as working in a NLE.
Some external converters that digitize analog with control are made by GV/Canopus, the ADVC300 for instance and Some stuff from ADStech

Velocity uses various hardware interface cards like Leitch or Quattrus RT to accomplish what you want, nothing is strictly software.

    Hi,

The new CS3 production suite comes with OnLocation, which is meant for real time preview and HDD capture with a camcorder. Im not sure if it works with analogue sources, depends on your capture card I guess, and I only presume it lets you tweak your levels on the fly…
