I purchased Media Composer 3.5 back in April ’09 for a VERY reasonable student rate. Everything worked flawlessly including my iZotope RX AudioSuite Plugins. I recently took advantage of my eligibility for a free upgrade to Media Composer 4.0. Since then I have been encountering 2 problems and upgrading to now 4.0.3 hasn’t changed anything.

    1) I cant preview various AudioSuite plugins, and some don’t work at all, including my iZotope RX plugins(which iZotope wont get back to me about…). I don’t hear anything when I hit Preview, and when I render the effect, nothing has changed.

    2) My source window freezes when I hit rewind with footage that is progressive when the project type is interlaced. Basically, 720p footage will rewind in a 720p and 1080p project but not a 1080i. It will just hold its current position until I hit pause or some other command.

Google searches haven’t shown anyone else with these issues. I’ve tried reinstalling and creating new user profiles.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Are you on Mac? If so, check out the ReadMe that came with the installer. I think there’s something in there about AudioSuite issues on Mac, with a fix, which is to remove two problematic dpm files.

Hmm, Your running an Acer AND a ATI video card??!
Your lucky it works at all.
An HP workstation and a nVidia video card are usually what people run
Avid on a PC, best check the qualifed PC systems list.
Or just back rev, sorry I can’t be of more help.

    Cheers

I am well aware of the qualified components, but for this system its what I’m stuck with and it has worked fantastic for over a year.

    Any ideas? Anyone?

    Check your version of QuickTime?

When I upgraded to my new HP, the pre-installed video card wouldn’t let MC load at all. I went to eBay, found a Quadro FX 560 video card for $99 and that solved the problem.

I’ve never had luck using ATI video cards with Avids, although when Xpress DV came out, Matrox cards were supported.

    Loved those days. 🙂

My problems have actually escalated, I now get the “code: -7” error and my audio suite no longer works. It’s quite the story with a laundry list of errors and attempts to fix that I’m am now considering reinstalling the os…

I’m gonna start a new thread.
