problems with slow motion in FCP
I’m Editing in HDV and slow motion is very jumpy. someone said to do slo mo in motion but surely FCP can do slo motion in HDV. does anyone know the answer or is it best to use motion. I have limited knowledge of motion so would prefer to use FCP.

Are you looking at the playback after rendering the effect or just using RT playback?

playback after rendering and i also exported a sequence. both are jumpy when in slow motion. just wondering if there is a way to fix it without using “Motion”

FCP6 uses the same motion flow engine that Motion uses. See the manual for how that works, it takes for freakin’ ever to analyze and render. Also, be aware that it tends to look at the entire media file, not just a short clip. You may want to export a short clip and reimport it to experiment.
“Jumpy slow motion” is difficult to diagnose without seeing the video. If you need to create additional frames where there are none, flow motion is your only available option without purchasing additional software. However, you have to realize it can be tricked while attempting to plot vectgors for all moving pixels. Say someone wearing a polkadot jacket walks in front of a wall that has a plaid paint job and the camera is moving. That will not track.bogiesan

The footage is HDV which seems to have problems with slow motion. I have looked at slow motion in motion but can’t seem to find anything on it. any suggestions of how to bring a clip into motion to slow it down. There must be a simple way! thanks
