  • Problems with Log and Capture in FCP 6.

    Hi everyone.
I have had problems Capturing video with my Sony DCR-TRV30E before but now it’s much worse or to say impossible. My problem is that the spinning ball appears very often when I click around in the Log and Capture window. For example: It takes a couple of seconds for the application to react when I push the Play-button. Then the video almost never shows on the screen and those rare times that I can see it, it’s very “laggy”.

I have had problems before Capturing video with my DCR-TRV30E but now i’ts much worse(since I installed FCP 6). When I worked in FCP 5 I had problems Capturing video but I managed, since FCP 6 it’s impossible.

As usual I have turned off all programs(except FCP of course :P), shutdown all FireWire devices(I haven’t disconnected them, but that should be necessary, should it?) and also used FCP Rescue 6.

I tried Capturing video with iMovie HD and it worked perfect so I dont get why it doesnt work in FCP and so good in iMovie. Please, does someone know something I can do to fix this?

    My computer and camera:
    PowerMac G5 dual 1,8 ghz
    2,5 gb ram
    Radeon 9800 Pro
Alchemy TV DVR(Can the TV-Card interfere?)
    Sony DCR-TRV30E
    ————————————-

Most grateful for all the help I can get.

Is it possible that the TV-card interferes with the signal?

Because I have had problems with that when opening PhotoBooth for example, instead of showing the camera it shows the TV-signal 😛
