  • Problems with FC 3 after upgrading the Mac OS

Posted by Mick Bowman on December 7, 2005 at 3:06 pm

I just upgraded from OS 10.2.3 to OS 10.4 on an iMac G-4.
Now my Final Cut 3 is performing strangely. The worst thing is
when I view clips in reverse with the J key the image stutters
and visually skips frames making it hard to select an edit point.

Can anyone offer an insight? I have 768 MB RAM. Do I need more?
    –Thanks.

    Try this first:

If FCP starts behaving in strange ways, then it is time to trash your FCP Preferences.’ ”

Click the following link for instructions.

    https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.

Download these free Apple Scripts at

    https://fcprescue.andersholck.com/

This is one FCP tip that has helped in solving hundreds of “odd” problems.

    Thanks. I’ll try that!
