Hello all. I am using Premiere pro and have a 1 hour project on the timeline. I am trying to export this sequence to an MPEG2, so that I may import it into another program to burn to DVD. (I know I can burn direct to DVD from pro, but I am adding menus and such.) When I do this it seems as if the encoder never stops. I started one this morning before I came to work, went home at lunch and it was still going. The progress bar seems to move just fine. What I think is happening is that its encoding and when it finishes it starts again, never stopping. The reason I think this is because the same thing happened last night. I started an encode, went back when i thought it should be over and it had restarted. i think it even writes over the previous file, so its not like I can stop it and just use the first file it made. There are no other programs running on my computer except pro and this computer is not on the internet. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You might be doing Two pass Variable Bit Rate encoding, in that case it does go through the footage twice. If you want it to only go through once, you should be able to set it to 1 pass vbr or just cbr, both of these will only go through once. VBR is useful if you have to compress your video alot, if you are only putting 1 hour onto a DVD then CBR will be just as good, but a lot faster.
