I am trying to use my canopus to get dv preview on my avid xpress pro, but I cant get it to recognize that it is plugged in. I have it plugged in to one of those pyro pci 64 cards and all the drivers are installed. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

go to device manager and under IEEE-1394….chek if the device is there….if not

    1) try changin ur firewire cable and see…
    2) try using the advc in another system and chek if the device is been recognised…if not then it cud be the prob with advc……

or mostly with ur Pyro…..try conecting someother FW devices ..and if the scene doesnt change then …change ur Pyrocard….

    regards

I did all of the above… I have 2 pyro cards, the firewire on my motherboard and the firewire on my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. All ports recognize firewire devices as far as windows is concerned. I’m have 3 firewire devices, my advc-100, my Panasonic PV-DV953 camcorder, and a western digital firewire harddrive. Whenever plugged in, the devices are recognized and windows pops up with a message asking what to do with the device. In AVID however, I can’t get it to recognize the advc-100 on any port, AND I just found out that I can’t get it to recognize my camera as a deck to digitize from either. I set up a deck profile under Deck Preferences and found my specific model number and everything. Everytime I changed firewire ports, I cycled the power (powering everything completely down) and still no go. I am starting to get really frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey….Ok…..go to deck configuration and delete all the firewire ports that are created there…close avid…then go to avid directory where its installed…i mean the prog…..go to settings delete the file named MC State…….and restart the application and then try connecting the advc…..alos create a channel in the deck config setting…….try it and let me know…….

    Regards
