problems with canon gl1 print to tape feature on vegas 4
I need some advice if anyone has any on this subject. I have used a canon gl1 for several yrs. I started out with vegas 3, and my camera was able to capture and print to tape fine. It also worked for a while on vegas 4. I rarely use print to tape function but would like it to work and also to have the luxury of previewing projects on an external monitor. This is the strange part…my camera still works with video capture…no problems capturing video with vegas. by the way, I am using a sony pcg-frv37 laptop as well. But, the problem is that I can’t print to tape or watch on external source. When I first try it, it acts as if it is going to work, but in seconds it stops playback. Does anyone has any suggestions?

Try a different firewire cable? Does it work with a different camera? It’s possible that you have a bad firewire cable or a partially bad firewire port.

Did you download service pack 2. I had a similar problem with my little Panasonic Mini DV camcorder right after I downloaded service pack 2.
I read on this blog about a firewire patch. Once I downloaded it everything worked fine.
If it is SP2 problem I think there is a fix on microsofts website or below:

Would you know how to “print to video” from final cut pro?
Does the GL1 record menu be set in a special way to
make it possible for me to firewire something from
final cut pro (4.5 HD) to the camera? Thanks!
