I had a project edited in FCP 4 on an external HD that crashed. Before the crash I was able to transfer the project to another drive but the media is now offline. I am trying to batch capture the media but a few things are going wrong:
    1. on one tape there is not enough pre-roll on the selected clip
    2. On another tape, the capture begins but then FCP locks up and stops responding. When I force quit FCP I can’t re-open the project until I restart the computer

Can anyone think of any fixes for these issues? Please help

You need to recapture. Just transfer all of the tape with capture now. Be aware that you have to check system configuration in FCP. You have to switch off the lines saying stop capturing with TC breaks. Don’t capture more than 30 Minutes a a Time.
