    Help!

I’m trying to make a DVD of a sequence (digitized at 1:1 NTSC, about 6 min. long). I export as a QT reference, at the highest quality, yet when I make a DVD with IDVD, the visuals get blocky when there is a lot a movement in the piece. The titles effects, graphics, all look crisp clean and great, just fast camera pans the picture starts to break up. I’ve tried every varaition, every field order (on single field, things are fine BUT my titles look terrible). Now I hear that my export should be at 720 X 480. How do I make that adjustment in my QT reference settings? When I make my QT reference, the QT clip is on my desktop, which I can play. I’m confused, if it’s a reference clip, I shouldn’t be able to play it, correct? What is the difference between QT and QT reference?

I would love to know the answer to this … and even know WHY it does this. I’m new to the DVD burning game (Not to mention the mac game, which is getting VERY frustrating) so bear with me. Is there a place/page to get an EXACT step by step of making a good export for IDVD so I won’t get these motion problems? I’ve tried so many versions (interlaced, non-interlaced, etc.)that my head is spinning. I’m pretty savy in Avid PC but I keep running into walls with this mac version.

I’m running XP5.7 with my macpro. Here’s my specs if that helps:
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor
Speed: 2.66 GHz Number Of Processors: 2 Total Number Of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB Memory: 4 GB Bus Speed: 1.33 GH

    thanks!

you have to do a video mixdown and an audio mixdown with the entire piece first as all precomutes result in nasty banding/interlacing.
This is a MAJOR drag with longfrom shows. Maybe Avid will create a tool that magically creates disc space for 90 minute 1:1 shows going to DVD.

    ok, prolly not.
