    Hello,

does anyone know of a way to ‘media manage’ files that are connecting to REFERENCE QUICKTIME files? I have a project that wants to connect to REFERENCE QT files and I need to generate a list (hopefully from FCP) that can identify these clips so I can go back and either manually re-export these clips so they are not reference quicktime files, or do a batch export through FCP and make all clips that the FCP projects recognize as independant. It’s a project that had been upgraded from FCP 3, with a history of capturing that is not mine, so I don’t completely know why the source files are REFERENCE clips, but everytime I open up the FCP project, it takes about 20 min to open up a 16.4mb file because it’s searching for the reference files labelled:

    av-1
    av-0

*when I go to quicktime and look at movie properties, it says that it’s looking for both clips to open the project. I need it to remain independant.

    thanks

The files were captured to a drive not formatted Mac OS Extended. So since it was or is formatted for a PC, there was a limit to file size involved, so that’s why the av files etc… You could just recapture to correct this, or choose file/export/QT movie, (checking on use current settings and check on make self contained. They end up single files, then reimport those files. However the drive you export them to must a Mac formatted drive. Mac OS extended drives can have MUCH larger files.

I believe this is my problem also as I recently upgraded to a new Imac from a 6 year old G4. Some of my files, about half are listed as av-o files and the audio is only static. Would you have the same recommendation for me?
