Problems with 5.5 on 10.4.7
specs: quadcore g5 osx 10.4.7 AXP 5.5.2
Alright…
I got my new g5 in the mail the other day preloaded with 10.4.7 on it. I had just bought AXP 4.8.1 for Mac just before the new release came out. Somehow I missed that it was coming. So after the Mac got here I got an update from Avid thanks to a guy on the Avid Support phonelines. The DL was going to take a couple of hours so we hung up and he gave me a case number and told me to call back in when I was ready to upate to 5.5.
He also listed the steps to take:
1) uninstal 4.8
2) install 5.5
3) update dongleSo, the next day I was ready to call back, but it was after hours. So I took it upon myself to uninstall 4.8 and install 5.5 and update the dongle. All went well. I was using AXP for the past two days problem free until today. About 20 minutes ago, I shutdown my mac and rebooted to fix a networking problem. When it came back up AXP would not boot, citing that no dongle was attached. So, i unplugged the dongle and plugged it back in and AXP still doesn’t boot.
Now, I called into Avid’s support becuase I didn’t register my copy until 3 days ago (when I installed on my mac) so I should have 27 days of support left. Well, I called in, gave it my case number and I was told I have no support options available without paying 500 bucks per incident. I called back, this time to open a new case with my system ID and again it said I had no more support.
Now my Avid won’t run and I have an interview Monday and I can’t spit my reel out. I should have 27 days of phone support shouldn’t I? I was under the impression 30 days of install support came when the product was registered. What gives? Why did my dongle stop working after it did for the last two days?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in Advance…
