    Hi,
I have also experinced lots of crashes with message “A seriuos error happened, need to shut downn ppro.” I am using 10 bit pal project to capture a 1000+ 50min. edl with 5.2 drivers.

these crashes were not there with 5.1 drivers.

the crashes(i.e a serious error … etc) happened when i was placing an imported clip on the timeline.
The imported clips was renderd on after effects with 10 bit 422 blackmagic codec. After reopening and reimporting the same clip, i could place it on the timeline without any problem. I would say the crashing happened 3/10 times i was doing the above. It also crashed with same message if switched on or off the video layer on ppro. again not always.
these chances of these crashes are high if i was doing the above two actions. I am quite shure my media is not corrupt.

I am even facing problems capturing dv clips. ppro reports cant activate current recorder try resetting the camera. with 5, 5.1 & 5.2 drivers
So i opened an blackmagic decklink dv project chose dv capture and said ok again the same message. then went into capture settings said ok. the premiere crashed without saying any thing
So, i opened a dv project, got the same message( can’t activate recorder)did the same thing again but this time removed all the four check boxes Saying playback and preview on desk top etc. the system did not crashed. And i got the dv control and video. but i was getting black on desktop capture window. but when i batch captured the clips, the clips were ok . though it was showing black during capture.

First time i installed 5.1 drivers it captured smoothly. now it happens the same way on both 5.0,5.1 & 5.2 drivers. i’ll check on earlier versions and report

    sameer:

Go back to the v5.0 driver and see what happens. I did, and no more crashes.

    Hi,
went back to ver 5.0 today. I have an out sync problem during mastering. so rolled back to ver 4.8.( I have the out sync problem with 5.1 & 5.2 also) That problem is there as a seprate post. 4.8 did seems to solve the out syn problem.

    thanks

Aside from the sync issue, did going back to 5.0 solve the crashing problem?

    Hi,
I did not use ver 5.0 for long. i just used it to master my show & sync loss was there. so i reverted back to 4.8. There were no crashes on 5.1 drivers as described with 5.2 drivers.

    thanks

    Hi

As this appears to be isolated to mixing media on the timeline of a DV project. I would recommend that you use an Uncompressed project.

Please can you foward your system details to pcsupport@blackmagic-design.com – include motherboard details etc and software install. I shall then review your system configurations to ensure there are no other issues.

Start > run > msinfo32 – save the NFO file as an attachment and email it to me.

    Hi,

I’ll send my nfo file tomorrow. I am working on an uncompressed 10 bit pal decklink project not a dv project. I just go to dv project to capture around 10-20 dv clips. and then replace them in my 10bit project.

One project i could use the 5.1 driver and decklink uncompressed project to capture dv clips. but not anymore.(capture window says cant activate recorder) I had the outsync problem on that project also.

the crashing problem was faced only on 5.2 drivers. 5.1 is ok. but outsync during mastering is only solved in 4.8 drivers. though if i assemble edit with 4.8 the system will put some ng frame as the first frame and rest of the master will be fine.(i.e if i master from 10:00:00:00 my actual master will start from 10:00:00:01 and rest will be ok.10:00:00:00 will be an ng frame) this delay problem is not there in 5.0,5.1 &5.2 drivers. Insert edit is accurate.

    my system config is
dell sc1420 server. decklink extreme on pci-x slot. 2×2.8 ghz xeons. 1.5 gb ecc ram. 2x 250 gb western digital sata disk configured as raid 0 on embedded raid card. (get around 96 fps with decklink disk speed utility for 10 uncompressed bit project). 80 gb sata drive as boot drive. 16 mb ati pci graphic card which came with the system. xp service pack 2. the mb is 7520.
my memory usage during mastering is 700-800 mb and cpu usage in 15-20 %.

p.s i tried using my array or external drive as audio drive, the sync issue was there on both cases. I also tried clean reinstalling my whole system.
    thanks
