Problems w/ Exporting QT file from FCP
Hello all.
Have been fighting a major battle with FCP and my Apple computer–trying to get a short interview video (about 5 min.) to export as a Quicktime file that my company can upload to the web and that plays clearly on both Windows machines and Macs. My biggest issues have been that either the file size of the exported Quicktime file is gigantic and the quality is utter garbage…and/or it won’t play on a PC (I get nothing but brightly-colored digital junk).
Can anyone recommend a codec/exporting process that will allow me to get a web-ready Quicktime file that looks good and works across platforms? I have been using the Quicktime conversion tool through the newest version of FCP. I know this is a simple process, but it’s not working. I’ve never run into this problem before and it’s driving me batty!

From FCP Export QuickTime Movie. You can create a self-contained if you like. Import that file into Compressor. Use Web Streaming or Web Download QuickTime 7 Compatible setting. There are several choices there. I use H.264 300kbs. Then export.
Windows users will need the latest version of QuickTime on their system in order to view the file.
The two other fiile formats that work well for the web are Flash and WMV.

No luck! I’m still getting the same digital gunk when I play the file on my PC, and my Quicktime is definitely up to date. Can’t figure out what it is! Aaaaa!
