Problems trying to convert Canon 5D Mark II video
Hi,
I’m trying to convert video shot on a Canon 5D Mark II into an editable format for FCP7. I heard MPEG Streamclip was a good program for this. BTW I heard this from the following Youtube video, in case this helps:

But when I try to convert the video, following these instructions, I keep getting an error that says ‘can’t open the compressor.’ I’d greatly appreciate any advice, if anyone knows what may be causing this.

Hi, Neil:
The best way for me is to use Log and Transfer in Final Cut so you can reconect everything.

You need the Canon plug in.

Much appreciated Daniel. Great tutorial. The only challenge I’m having following your advice is downloading the EOS Movie Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro, from this link. I didn’t see a ‘download’ button or anything here. I also tried to find it on the Canon page, and couldn’t. Sorry if I’m just being dense here, or missing something obvious. Could anyone direct me or send me another link?

Try the the free 5DtoRGB in the Apple app store. If that works for you, buy the Batch version so you can batch the footage. It is all I use. It is very fast and I find gives the best conversion.
