Problems running Sony Vegas 12/13 [Technical]

Hi John!

My quest as laptops goes has been Miserable.

I’ve tried to purchase an Alienware laptop today, unfortunately they do not sell to businesses but consumers alone.
Add that to the poor customer service and i’ve lost my faith entirely to the brand.

Is there any Laptop you’d suggest that could handle solely on the CPU?
I’ve got about 3000$ to spend and desperately looking for something.

I really can’t make a suggestion because I haven’t used a PC laptop in years. I use a 2012 MacBook Pro as my laptop. Actually, the specs on the latest MacBook Pro are probably what you are looking for and the price is in your budget:

It’s not as powerful as the Alienware but it’s not bad either. In addition to running Vegas Pro in Windows. you would also have the option of using Final Cut Pro X on OS X. So it’s actually more computer options for your money. 😉

I Could run Adobe Premiere perfectly fine with my current setup,

My Client literally wants me to use Sony Vegas for the time being (which could be months).
I’ll look into the MacBook Pro!

I’m guessing that’s because Adobe is using CUDA which is an NVIDIA proprietary technology and most laptops have NVIDIA GPU’s so Adobe should run great on most laptops. It’s unfortunate that more laptops don’t support AMD but that’s what Sony runs best with.

I didn’t realize that your NLE choice was driven by your client. If you to check out the MacBook Pro’s be sure to go to an Apple Store and see Final Cut Pro X running on it. FCP X screams on the new MacBook Pro’s (as you might expect).

So are you delivering Vegas Pro project files (*.veg) to your clients? I’m just wondering why they care what NLE you use.
