Hey guys, my usual routine for rendering clip’s through vegas is to render in uncompressed AVI and then encode with the huffyuv codec using windows media encoder. The quality/size ratio was excellent.

    My problem:

Recently someone told me to try encoding with xvid. I downloaded the codec and rendered in vegas. The outcome wasn’t as good as huffyuv in my opinion. Since I’ve done this I am unable to render uncompressed AVI correctly. Vegas will go through the rendering process and It’ll come out being the usual 20-40GB AVI file but there is no video. When I goto the file properties in previous uncompressed AVI it says in the advanced summary:

    Video compression: Uncompressed

but in the uncompressed AVI’s that I render now it shows nothing. When I try to play the files in VLC Player I hear sound but see nothing.

I’m wondering if it’s a conflict between xvid and divx?

I tried uninstalling both, and reinstalling each seperatley but I still get the same video less uncompressed AVI.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Vegas as well.

    Any ideas would be awesome.

I am having a similar problem.

I recorded footage using XviD MPEG-4 codec to AVI files. After I finished my project, I tried to render in AVI. I too got a video that contained sound but no video with a large file. I also tried rendering in MWV, and got the same result. The only thing that rendered were my title screens at the beginning and the end and the sound. Any suggestions?
