    I imagine the problem is the type of clips you are importing. Use footage captured directly from the camera when possible. When not possible, cross your fingers and hope they are not temporally compressed. If they are, it is likely they are not designed to be edited. Just played.

    DivX is a common culprit.

    Some of the clips that I have tried are from the lesson disk from a book I bought (Premiere Pro 2.0 Revealed).
