    Hello,

I am having problems linking our XDCAM EX clips in Avid 5.0 using the AMA function.

We are shooting our footage on a Sony PMWEX1R, shooting at 1080p 29.97 (1920/30P) to SxS cards and external hard drives.

Every time we have attempted to link to files using AMA it gives us a warning “unable to link any clips at…”

I have read all the forums, and watched all the tutorials, we have not changed the naming structures, and all the setting AMA settings are turned on in the AVID. My research tells me that we should be able to make this work.

If you have any experience with this, I will greatly appreciate the help.

    Thank You,
    Oliver Schaal.

    HI,

I am having similar problems with MC 4.0, but I am assuming that I just don’t know what I am doing. It’s my first time to shoot with an EX1. My AVID recognizes the EX! card and shows the scenes on the screen. But I don’t know how to use the FAM tranfer, and have no clue where to find it! Are your clips showing up in a bin yet? Any idea where to activate the FAM transfer tool?
Thanks and Good Luck. Ross Spears

I’ve been trying this for 4 days now(linking XDCAM EX to Avid MC 5.0), and can’t get it. Have you found the answer?

I recently found a solution for me.

I am using MC5.0 and we couldn’t figure it out. So we finally called AVID tech support and they had us update to the newest version, it was a free download, and since then it has worked like a charm. The AMA function is a very useful tool when using XDCAM EX footage. Hope this helps.
