    Hi there,

I’ve just been shipped my second Decklink card which is not working for me.

The first time, none of my machines (a quad g5, an eight core, and a four core) would recognize the card. Nothing in the menus, nothing. Decklink advised me to send them back the card.

This time, when I put the card in, it doesn’t quite fit, actually. It sticks out from the metal board where you screw in the holder screw (on the quad g5) or the retention bracket on the intel pros, about 5 mm. I’ve tried to get it in there every single way to no avail. When I power up the computers, I simply get a black screen and my fan goes nuts.

I’m having a hard time believing that I could have gotten two non-working cards in a row from blackmagic. Could I possibly be doing something wrong?

I talked to customer service and although they were nice, they really didn’t have any advice except to make sure the card was installed properly. Our machines all have cards which we’ve installed and work fine.

Finally, is there an alternative product to go with since I sort of feel like this might be a dead end…

    Thanks,
    Max

Just in case anyone reads this:

I was able to fix it. It required tweaking the card up in the slot so that the left end of the card is on top of the little black release lever. The card appear to bend slightly up and to the left after this is done. It doesn’t look good, and it doesn’t feel good – but it works.

    Thanks,
    Max

    Hi Max,

That sounds strange to me. Which model of DeckLink card did you buy and in which slot did you install it?

Are you using pci-e or pci-x. Most older g5s should be pcix
