    Hi.
My mac is a macbook pro Mac OS X version 10.5.7.
I had Avid media composer 3.0 which worked fine. I then loaded the 14 day trial version for 3.5., which also worked fine. After 2 weeks I uninstalled it and deleted all Avid files and tried to install the 3.0 again. It said it installed successfully, but when I tried to open the application, I got “Exception: Failed to initialize audio hardware.”
I figured I might have accidentally updated my quicktime, which might mean that I could not downgrade back to the 3.0, so I then tried to install the trial version of the Media composer 4, to see if it would work. It seemed to install fine, but the application will not open, and it does not even give me an error message.
Please help, I need an avid on my computer asap. If the Avid 4 works I need to buy one, they seem to be available sept 30th.

    THANK YOU!

Call me crazy. The one time I had audio issues it was actually caused by a conflict between internet explorer 8 and avid.(Go Figure!) After I got rid of IE 8, Avid would start up. Now I know you are on a mac but possibly something is in conflict with Avid. Think of any updates you recently applied and delete them
