On my current job, out of the blue, my deck control is taking minutes to initialize. Anytime I change my input setting it takes minutes to change, as well. I just updated my Blackmagic drivers for FCP 5.1.4. I thought that might fix it, but it didn’t. I’m still chugging away with my Beta SP outputs but I’m getting close to missing deadlines. Any suggestions out there.

I answered my own question. I had my firewire DA converter on while using the Decklink Extreme to control my Beta SP via Decklinks 29.97 controller. Seems that FCP doesn’t like having both on at the same time. So when I turned off the Sony DA converter box things moved a lot faster for initializing a deck. But the question remains why is it doing this? I haven’t had a problem using both before. Decklink interferes with bringing in firewire source. This seems to be a problem that has poped up in FCP 5.1.4. Any suggestions?

    Hi Bryan,

Haven’t seen this one yet. Why are you converting BetaSP to firewire to bring it into Final Cut Pro? If you need DV encoded footage, just use the Blackmagic DV easy setups and Final Cut Pro will transcode on the fly into the standard DV format.

I’m sorry after I got over the panic of delivery today. I did a full power cycle and things seem to be working better.

By the way, I had to reset my frame offset after installing the latest drivers. I went from a 4 frame offset to a 6 frame offset. Is that normal?

    Thanks so much,

    Bryan
