  • Problems Export DNxHD Codec

    Hallo!

    This is the situation.
I have some interview-videofiles as mxf. I did some greenkeying and want to export the clips as DNxHD mov-files.
I tried DNxHD 1080p 220/185/175 10 bit and DNxHD 444, problem is the same.

    This is the problem:

Most of the files work fine, some of the files cannot be read by the quicktime player. It works fine with f.i. the vlc but all of the “demaged” files cannot be opened in AVID so it is only important that quicktime runs it.

    The mediaInfo :
    Format : MPEG-4
    Commercial name : DNxHD 185x
    Format profile : QuickTime
    Codec ID : qt 0000.02 (qt )
    File size : 110 MiB
    Duration : 4s 960ms
Overall bit rate : 186 Mbps
    Writing application : Lavf57.25.100

    Video
    ID : 1
    Format : VC-3
    Commercial name : DNxHD 185x
    Format version : Version 1
    Codec ID : 0
    Codec ID/Info : Avid
    Codec ID/Hint : DNxHD
    Duration : 4s 960ms
    Bit rate mode : Constant
    Bit rate : 184 Mbps
    Nominal bit rate : 1 280 bps
    Width : 1 920 pixels
    Height : 1 080 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 16:9
    Frame rate mode : Constant
    Frame rate : 25.000 fps
    Color space : YUV
    Chroma subsampling : 4:2:2
    Bit depth : 10 bits
    Scan type : Progressive
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 3.540
    Stream size : 109 MiB (99%)
    Language : English

The difference between the working and not working files seems to be:

    Codec ID : 0
    and
    Codec ID : AVdn

I tried to reduce the renderspeed to 75% but it happens too.
If I rerender the files, they sometimes work and sometimes not.

If they work, they are fine, if not, I rerender till it works.

I would be verry thankfull for a hint or any idea what to do.

    [Arne Moritz] “Format : MPEG-4

What are your export settings? Because DNxHD in an MP4 container…that’s wrong. Is the file a .MP4 file? It should be Quicktime mov..DNxHD. HMMM…I don’t see MPEG-4 as an export option. What are your delivery settings? Can you take a screen shot? Or just type in the information

When you export QuickTime, in DaVinci Resolve, you get MPEG-4 in a MOV container !

It is also possible to export DNxHD as MXF OP-Atom and MXF OP1A – then you get a MXF file !

OK, seems like I fixed the problem.
With the Update from 12.5.1 to 12.5.3 the problem is gone.

Normaly I do not update any programms while I’m in a project but this time it
    was verry helpfull.

    Thanks to all.
