Hey guys, how can I make my Sony Vegas 6.0 re-create this effect as shown in this YouTube video from IndyMogul:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8090m3BmWs

It says I have to crop my video; how do I crop my video? Obviously, there’s the pan/crop menu, but I’m not sure as to where the cropping option is… all I end up doing is moving the video itself. Is it the Anchor Creation tool? Because if so, that is a very frustrating tool to use to re-create this what would appear to be simple effect.

I use vegas 7.0 plat. so I don’t know about 6.0, but there should be a tutorial you can open in the help menu. I know that that has a section about cropping video. Good luck.

There are two ways I can think of.
One is to use a bezier mask and mask out the desired portion.
The other is to open the Pan/Crop window and disable the “Lock Aspect Ratio” and “Size About Center” options (on the far left side).
Then, under the “Source” menu options, set “Maintain Aspect Ratio” and “Stretch to Fill Frame” to No.
Now adjust the left/right/top/bottom height/width adjustments as desired.
In the case of the YouTube example, all that’s needed is to drag the left-side width adjustment to the right to cover the wheel.

I would think the easy way is to capture a frame of the blank (careful to make it full resolution), then take into Photoshop and cut in in half, leaving the right side and turning the left into an alpha chanel — PNG file. Bring it back in and lay the half over the clip.
