problems consolidating and restoring p2 footage
hi there i’m having problems with p2 and it’s driving me nuts.
i’ve edited a project that was shot on p2 at dv 25 420. all the footage was loaded onto a storage drive with p2 genie then the individual video and audio mxf files were copied onto the raid/avid mediafiles/mxf/1 then located using media tool and brought into avid xpress pro v5.2.4 no problems.
when the project was completed i went to consolidate the finished timeline and that’s when the problems began. first in the middle of consolidating i got an error that said end of file reached on ‘‘… this caused the whole consolidation process to wig out and delete quite a bit of media. it was a simple process to restore the lost media as i still had the storage drive handy and copied the footage back onto the raid but when i restarted the avid it’s done something bizarre! some of the restored footage has been labelled with dv50 resolution but because it isn’t dv50 but dv25 the avid cannot play it. the picture looks similar to when you are digitising across firewire and have the resolution set wrong, green lines all over the screen. i thought perhaps the project was corrupted and tried to bring some footage into another project but the result is the same. i have also copied some of the video to a different drive and am still getting the same result. i’ve also tried transcoding the dv50 footage to dv25 420 but i get the end of file reached on ‘ ‘error. i’m about to try importing the footage into a new avid but this will be a pain if it’s the only solution. i’ve also double checked the footage using p2 viewer and it’s definately still dv25 420
has anyone encounted any of these problem and if so can you help i’m running out of ideas
