    Hi

I have FCP 5.1.4 and I’ve shot some footage on HDV on a Z1. (settings HDV1080i 50i). I’m having trouble importing it – the camera is connected via firewire but when I try to capture the error message “No Data from Device” comes up. Underneath it says “Capture was aborted due to lack of incoming data from device. Check your connections and that the deck is playing”. I’ve checked the connections and the footage is playing correctly on the Z1…. does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? Or what I can do?

    Thanks for your help

I am having EXACTLY the same problem. I am running a G4 iMac with a 1.25Ghz processor and 1GB of RAM and thought that memory or processing power might be the problem.

In addition to the messages that you have popping up, I am also getting a message telling me that my chosen compression setting (ie HDV 1080 50i) is ‘not supported’ and that my computer is ‘out of memory’!?

I look forward to reading this thread as it develops.

Did you get your answers? Under system preferences/memory&cache i have found that if you crank it back to about 60-70% application and about 30% still cache it seems to work fine. It just needs some computing power to handle the other apps you have running too.
Are you shooting in PAL? if not you would want to choose something like 60i or 30f and not 50i or 25f.
Let me know what you find out about the import problem not having enough data. I am having the same issue and am chalking it up to a slow computer at this point. But as I have always found there is a solution out there. Just have to do more digging.
    Thanks.
    Josh.
