  • Problems Capturing HDV from Sony HVR A1U

I am a new to Sony Vegas (and video editing in general) and am having alot of trouble caputuring video from a Sony HVR A1U. I can caputre in DV just fine but when I try to get HDV what does get downloaded is extremely pixelated, with long audio drops. I am downloading to a laptop with an I-Link jack, so I am going I-Link to I-link. I have looked everywhere and can’t figure out what I am doing wrong…Please Help!!

I have 2 of those cams and I can capture just fine on 3 different pc’s.

Do you have any other services running in the background such as virus protection? If so, shut them down.

What are the specs on your laptop? Do you have another pc to test it on? Have you been able to successfully capture from this cam to this laptop in the past?

Are you using the external capture utility? To capture HDV you will have to.

Nothing major running in the backround. Right now I dont have another computer to test it on… The laptop I have is running Windows Vista 32 Bit
AMD Turion x2 1.9 Gig Proccessor
    2 gig RAM
    ATI Radeon X1200 Video

Forgive my ignorance, when you say external caputure utility, do you mean a seperate program other than sony Vegas, or do you mean a utility within Vegas? The way I have been trying to capture is through Vegas, file, capture.

If you are using a different utility to caputure, that could very well be my problem..
