Problems capturing
Hello,
I am trying to capture the images from a project I am working at. I am using a firewire cable to connect my Panasonic AG dvx100 with my Mac Book Pro. I can actually see the images on FC, and play them properly. But when I start the capture, it only leasts 3 seconds, and after that the capture stops. I do get a clip that can be played. It says it’s a problem with the tape, but I’ve tried with different tapes and on different points of the tapes, and the error message always appears on the third second, stopping the capture.
I’ve tried cleaning the heads, but I still get the same error. Also, I’ve deselected boxes for “abort capture on dropped frames”, but I never manage to capture further than exactly three seconds.
Does anybody know what the problem might be? Thank you very much!

What are your capture settings? Been a long time since I captured a tape but this sounds like a setting mismatch. Use the DV easy setup. Post your capture settings.

Device Control: FireWire NTSC
Capture Input: DV Pal 48kHZIs this what you mean? I am sorry, I am quite new with this, so I get a bit lost sometimes.

Your video settings and remote settings don’t match.
They should either be both PAL or both be NTSC (PAL for UK, NTSC for US).

You shouldn’t, it just sounded from your description like you might have been (USB is not fast enough to capture video and can result in these immediate failures to capture). See Gary’s response below for the solution.
