Problems after rendering video
Hello,
I am new to adobe premiere pro cs4, and I upload videos to youtube. I recently got a new microphone to record my piano playing with better quality, so I figured I’d do some video editing and make a decent video.
I recorded the video in standard definition, .avi format. I imported it to adobe, along with the audio. After syncing the two, I played the sequence in the program monitor to make sure everything was good, and it was, no hiccups whatsoever.
However, after I rendered the clip by hitting the enter key, the playback was messed up. During the playback, my hands would occassionally skip around and gave an overall jumpy feel to the clip, very noticeable. The audio, however, was completely fine still, apparently unaffected by any glitch in the video playback. Well I figured that it might just be because it was playing back in adobe, so I went ahead and exported the sequence as an .avi file, (which ended up being 1.12 gb for a 5 minute movie!). However, when I played back the sequence as .avi on my desktop in windows media player, the same thing happened. Then I exported it as an .mp4 file. This was significantly smaller (120 mb), but the problem was even worse!
Still, I uploaded it to youtube to see what would happen. It was bad. After it was completely processed and everything, I played it on youtube. The ENTIRE video was silverish grey and highly pixelated, completely distorted to where you couldn’t tell what anything was in the video. Yet the audio remained perfectly intact, of course.
I’m stumped, so any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Please post your project settings, media type, and export settings.
Sounds like an inconsistency with settings, frame rate or field order…

Project Settings: I did have it at DV-NTSC 720 X 480 NTSC widescreen 48kHz. I just opened a new project as Mobile Devices–Ipod, QVGA, etc. with 640 X 480, synced the video and audio, rendered it, and got the same problem.
Media Type: .avi video in 640 X 480
Export Settings: Well I’ve tried 4 different types: .avi, .mp4, H264 and something else, got the same result with all of them.
Let me know if you need me to be more specific, as you can see, I’m pretty new to this haha.

You also need to discribe with what(cam and mic) and how you recorded the video and audio(programs used) since it seems that you recorded them separately

I used an HD camcorder and a mxl-usb 007 microphone. But I figured it out. It must have been the .avi video format. I simply converted it to .wmv and everything worked fine from then on out. Heres the final video if anyone is interested:
