I’ll try to make this short – I recently upgraded to fcp6 on my 1.25ghz powerbook G4. This is an old, but very reliable machine. I have used it solely for rough cuts for years, including last month using fcp5.1. When I upgraded to fcp6, it now notifies me that I need a gig of ram and immediately closes. (for various reasons – one bad slot and the fact I can’t get this machine to take a gig stick – this machine will ever only have 512mb of ram). Of course, if I try to open Motion3, it gives me the same message, but allows me to open and use the program – which is great ’cause I don’t want to use this machine for Motion AT ALL!

So here’s my question… does anyone know if there’s a way around this? Is there a way to have the software not check for ram or fool it into thinking there’s a gig or something. I know I could just buy a new machine, but I rarely use this one and up until last month, everything was working great! Thanks!
