  • problem with snapshots – frames are flipping

    I have got a post-render problem.
I have a clip where a person gets in a door and freeze (right after he enters, I have made an snapshot “best-full” of him which goes for 2 secunds)and then he countinue his movement.

    so its like this:

    video->snapshot->video.

Offcourse the snatshot is not crystalclear, bc his hand is in movement.

    Problem:
While watching the part in Vegas, the snapshots looks steady, even though the hand is not all clear, but it is still steady.
Now after rendering and burning at architect on a Bluray or DVD, the whole picture is good and steady but his hand flips between 2 frames, seems like due to his hands movment, the rendered dvd/bluray cant decide wich frame to hold on to, so his hands is flipping like 10 times in a sec.

Now I have seen many movies, where for example, a person is runnig, then the picture freez and then he goes on runnig, but that freezed frame doesn’t flip 10 times a sec.

    question:
How can I stop the unclear part of a snapshot from fliping?
Is there a setting for that that I have missed?

    thanx in advance
    brando

Before taking the snapshot, set the field order in your Project Properties tab to None (progressive scan).
Remember to change it back before continuing to edit.
If that still doesn’t work, try using a Velocity envelope and setting the speed to “0” at the desired point for 2 seconds (or however long you need) and then resume speed.

    Hey Mike.
Thanx for the advice, but before I red it, I actually solved it in a very simple manner.
I went directly to the shaky snapshot in the timeline and I did this:
    “rightclick/switches/reudce interlace flicker”

and now the frames are dead-steady 😉

Marco, I’m not sure why that worked but I’m glad it did.
In theory, all that switch does is apply a light guassian blur.
