  • problem with SD log – HDV capture HD50 Deck PAL

    Thanks for looking –

We’ve just done a shoot in HDV (720P50) on our JVC GY HD251 cameras but wanted to add some library footage from another project that was shot on HDV 720P50 but captured at DV PAL.
Now we were hoping that to batch capture the SD footage in HDV over firewire but are having some problems.

We can log and capture fine with the current setup but if we send one of th SD clips offline and try and re-capture using our HDV settings it simply doesn’t work. FCP or the deck don’t seem to take any notice of the logged timecode and just rewind the tape past the in point of the logged material.

The deck is a JVC BR HD50 and works perfectly normally.
And as i said already we are able to log and capture new clips to HDV.

I’m not lazy so if the only way to get this right is use the EDL to re-log everything so be it but i’m pretty sure that shouldn’t be the case.

If i haven’t made this clear enough please feel free to ask me to expand.

Any help here would be very much appreciated as it will save me/us lots and lots of time.

Try exporting the unresponsive logged clips as a batch list and then reimport that batch list … see if that acts more as expected. It seems unlikely but stranger things have happened and this workaround has been effective in breaking other preset associations in the past so its possibly worth a go.

    Thanks for the response Andy.

I’ll give that a go when i can….a colleague is currently trying to capture everything the laborious way and doesn’t want interrupting but i know we have more projects to do this with pretty shortly.
I’ll be sure to post my findings when I’ve had chance to try this out.

    Thanks again.
