Activity Forums Media 100 problem with playback sometimes

    I have an XR suite w/8.2.2 on an G4. Occasionally playback will stop and an error message will pop up: “unable to play, recorded with an older version of Media 100”. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you.

    The specific error message is, “Could not play because the media was recorded with a newer version of Media 100i.”

    I believe when we had this problem, it turned out to be a drive issue. Specificaly Medea. We had to tweak some internal settings (in the drive unit) before the problem went away.
    Quicktime is the first thing to look at though, make sure you have the right version.

    Thanks so much Todd. Yes, it is a Medea and it’s starting to come back to me. I think that the last time or two I got this message it was a precursor to the drive going down and needing to be reformatted.

    We have quick time on this suite but we don’t use it for anything. Still, should we make sure it’s the latest version and if yes, why do you suggest that? Thanks again.
