I have recently acquired this hard drive: https://www.lacie.com/la/products/product.htm?id=10554

I am working without any problem in an iMac via firewire 800. But every now and the I need to plug it into a macbook pro, but just when I connect the firewire 800 into the computer it just powers off. The weirdest thing is that the hard drive isn’t even powered on, I just put the firewire and the macbook just crashes.

I thought it was a problem with that macbook pro, since I had never had this problem with any kind of mac product, but today I have used it again with a different macbook pro and I have had the same problem.

So, does anyone have any clue what is going on? Could it be a problem of the hard drive? The macbook’s?

    Thanks.

I have a bunch (!) of these hooked up to my MBP and have not encountered this problem.

Have you tried a different USB cable?
