    Hello

I’m having an issue with an AVI file I’m sending to a client who uses Premier on a PC.
I generated a QT file from FCP, and converted it to AVI using QuickTime, and as compressor used the DV-NTSC codec.
This did not work on his system, it would not open.
I then made a sample in AVI Uncompressed, which worked, but the file is 4 times bigger. This is a problem since we need to FTP files to each other.

Does anybody know of a workaround for this?

    Thanks in advance
    Alex

Microsoft’s DV.avi comes in 2 flavors; DirectShow type 1 and 2. Premiere can only open type 2.

In my experience, the QuickTime DV files are far better cross-platform files than AVI if you both have CS3 and the PC has QT installed of course.

    Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately my client seems to have problems with QuickTime files..
The only format that has worked so far is AVI uncompressed. But the filesize is too big.
How would I create a compatible DV-NTSC file?

    Thanks
    Alex

You might also ask this question on the FCP forum. You can create a DV-NTSC DV.avi just fine, but not the type 2 that Premiere can ingest.
