OK. We have found the problem.

This is all explained in the Kona readme for future reference, but here goes:

Put the Kona in slot 3.

Open your HardDrive > System > Library > CoreServices folder.

In there you will find an Application called Expansion Slot Utility.app

Open that (careful as it sometimes hides behind your main finder window and doesn’t behave like a regular app), choose the second option down. x16 Graphics Slot + Two x4 Lane and One x1 Lane Slots.

    Save and restart.

    Thanks and thanks again.
It worked once I had done as you said and also changed the driver to the NDD version.

I must always remember to read the Read me!!!

Hey Guys. I was just reading your thread and i have a similar problem.
I just updated my tower to Leparod and my final cut would load up and just crash before getting past the load screen. So i deleted my prefrences and got a little bit further.
As soon as i tried to load a setup that involved my AJA Kona card it would crash again.

I then tried to get into my AJA Kona Control panel and it would also crash.

So i just tried to get to my Expansion Slot Utility app. and there is a big circle with a line through it saying that it is not supported on this architecture.

What can i do to get up and editing again???

    Thanks in advance

    Rob

You updated from Tiger to Leopard? Did you do the proper method of completely erasing your System Drive, then do a clean install of the OS, run all the updates, then a clean install of all your software?

If you simply performed an ‘Upgrade’ from Tiger to Leopard you’re in for all sorts of issues. You need to do a Clean Install.

Manually run the firmware updater in Applications> Aja Utilities before you do anything else.

The Kona 3 card does not auto update the firmware
