  • Problem with importing Canon MXF Files

    Hi guys.

Doing a jog currently that has been shot with the Canon C300.
All files were copied to a hard drive with folder structure intact.
I’ve been importing the footage into FCP X with the MXF Canon Plugin and all is working perfectly.
However one of the folders seems to have a corrupt INDEX.MIF file as it’s showing zero k as the file size. (normally 2.6 MB) So FCP X won’t allow me to import from this folder.
I can open the MXF files with VLC and look at the footage but I’m stumped as how to fix this issue.

Is there a way to rebuilt this INDEX file? Or is there a way to at least convert the MXF movies into ProRes?
Don’t care if I lose the Metadata in the process.

Jumping on this a bit late (2 years!). I’m having the same issue but with Canon XF Utility.

I need to extract focal length info from an MXF file, so converting is not an option. I even tried re-adding the video files to a XF105 pre-formatted card but it seems, without the original INDEX.MIF, I’m out of luck.

The camera doesn’t even allow me to view my old .MXFs.
