  • Problem with HCenc and DVD authoring

Hi, I’ve been following Jeff Bellune’s tutorial on how to encode hd to sd footage, and then using HCenc v0.25 to input an avs file and output it as a suitable mpeg2 file for Encore DVD.

The thing is that now HCenc freezes when selecting the avs file. It’s been working flawlessly until now so I have no clue of what’s going on. The only workaround I found is using HCenc v0.23 with a YV12 .avi file.

With HCenc v0.25 I could use a YUY2 avi file.

Any thoughts on how to fix HCenc or an alternative compatible with Encore DVD?

    Thanks

    What’s in your .avs script?

Do you get good quality output from v0.23? If so, I recommend you just go ahead and use that.

    Hi Jeff,

    the script reads:

    AVISource(“720p.avi”)

I just use it to open the avi file and export it to mpgeg2.

Previous to that, I’m using a script that reads:

    SetMTMode(2,0)
    MPEG2Source(“Trailer1080p.d2v”)
    hd2sd(interlaced=false,OutputColorSpace=”YUY2″)

V0.23 gives me a goo quality too, but I have to export the avi with YV12 (lagarith lossless config.) instead of YUY2, since YUY2 support was introduced in v0.25.
