My G5 has been out of action for a week now.
It will boot up when it feels like it and crash when I open FCP.
If I restart it, the fans run slowly at first and gradually increase to full speed.
Its still under warranty, but the technicians dont seem to know whats wrong.
    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Have you ran the Apple Hardware Test that came with the computer? If not I would run that just to double check all the hardware and RAM.

I bought a new G5 a few months ago and had what sounds like a very similar problem. Trouble booting and very unstable when running applications. The problem was tracked down to a bad stick of RAM. It was replaced and I’ve had no problems since.
    Just a thought…
