  • Problem with FCP 5 install

I have installed FCP 5 on a new G5 2.3 Dual, and ran into a small problem.

In the middle of the install (I selected all items except for the Qmaster option) when asked for the LiveType Media 1 disc, the DVD couldn’t be read. I had to cancel the install and unselect the LiveType Media option for it to install.

Now when I try to import a file I get an error with unrecognized file message. I was trying to import the color bars that came with the BMD 5.0 beta drivers.

    Here is my setup:

    Dual 2.3 G5
    2.5 gig ram
    ATI 9600 card (128vram)
    Decklink HD card
    OS 10.4.1
    SeriTek 4 channel external card

This was a clean install on a new machine.

My guess is that the DVD is blank. I also think that I might need to uninstall all the FCP Studio stuff and then do a clean OS install and then try to re install FCP Stuido.

    Thanks,

    Dan Weber

    Hey Daniel

Sorry to hear you’re having problems.

I would recommend an erase-install of Mac OS X and then a complete reinstall.
It sounds like a lot of work, but constant de-bugging an existing setup can take more time and grief in the long run.

And you might want to see i that disc mounts on the Finder. Get a new one from Apple before you reinstall, if you can wait.

    Regards
    Peter
