OK, I give up. I programmed a 10 frame cross dissolve as fav transition 1, assigned it to shortcut key shift 7. No problems, works fine. Programmed a second fav trans, a 15 frame dissolve, assigned to shift 6 and… nothing. Tried assigning to shift 8. Tried creating a new dissolve. Nope. Tried a new duration. When I apply it, I can see the effect menu highlighted, and it is listed up there with the the correct shortcut under favorite transitions. My default 30 frame transition, cmd T, works fine too. The clip has plenty of handles. Transition works fine when I drag and from the faves bin and drop it on. Trashed prefs, repaired permissions. Using 5.1.2 on a quad G5. This is my first real edit on fcp, gotta be something I’m doing wrong, but I can’t get it. These two dissolves are my bread and butter, this should work…

In fact, I cant get any type of second favorite video transition to work with a shortcut key. Audio transitions work fine with shortcut keys.

Glad I’m not the only one – sort of. Going to call tech support, still under 90 days, will let you know what they say.
