Problem With Different Versions of FCP
Hi All,
I’m a newbie not only to the forum, but also to FCP and even more so to using a Mac!
I have a Mac running OSX 10.5.8 which is a static computer and a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6. The static machine has FCP 6.0.6 and the MacBook has 6.0.1. I use the static machine to do the actual editing, but because a lot of the footage we capture is done overseas, the MacBook pro travels and footage is captured there.
The problem I have is I have just recorded a voiceover on the MacBook and saved it to a scratchdisc. When I try and open the project containing the voiceover on FCP 6.0.6 on the static machine, I get a message saying:
‘The file format of this project is from an earlier version. Would you like to update this project file?’
If I click ‘No’, then it won’t open the project. If I click ‘Yes’, the project opens, but the 4 voiceovers I’ve recorded go offline and I get a dialogue box saying ‘Some files went offline’. I have the option to reconnect, but this doesn’t do anything. If I continue, the files are visible but not useable.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be and how I solve it?
Thanks in anticipation.
Rob
