    Hi there

It is my first post in creative cow !

My problem when appeared that i wanted to move a bunch of UFOs in the air with Expression .I converted the footage to pre-compose and got in it and moved forward the UFO by expression X=(-500 to 1000) .I returned to my main compostion and wrote a code for random position for Pre-composed layer and duplicated it 20 times. All the things were good but unfortunately Ufos out of their compostions’ stage aren’t shown or are malformed till they come in wholly !

    What can i do ??!

Flashers understand me well 🙂 In flash you can make a symbol and Resolution of stage in the symbols isn’t important cus when an object get out of stage,it still exists in the scene.

    Thanks

Try posting this on the expressions forum as well, you may get more help there.

Thanks Tudor but i think it’s a general problem !
Is it possible to show footages which aren’t into the stage of their Precomposed layer?
I found out a solution for my problem but i want to check this out !

If I understand your issue the answer is no; you can’t do it like that.
After Effects treats any precomposition as if it were a video clip. So when things are outside the comp window; they will not show up when that layer is nested in another comp.

[Michael Szalapski] “After Effects treats any precomposition as if it were a video clip. So when things are outside the comp window; they will not show up when that layer is nested in another comp.”

    Agreed.

I’d think the solution would be to apply the position expression to the precomp itself in the master comp (instead of the layers with the precomps).

If you must keep the expression within the precomp, you must keep all layers within the bounds of the precomp (either by modifying the expression to limit movement, or enlarging the precomp).

    Thanks Walter and Michael

I wanted to challenge it :)Of course by enlarging the stage of precompos layer i could win the game 😉
